There is an extensive underground network of walkways under the roads of downtown Kobe. The tunnels connect the major department stores and all the railways so it is a very convenient place to spend time at one of the many restaurants or cafes there. This is an impromptu art gallery that connects Sannomiya to the Daimaru department store.

Another Bridge to Cross
Today, during our "social distancing" hike, we went for a four hour stroll to a temple that I would often hike to when I was "younger". Dairyu-ji temple has everything that I want to see in Japan... bamboo forests, cherry blossoms, Japanese maple trees, small tea houses in the woods. But it is a bit of a walk for me these days.

Water Under the Bridge
We have been doing a lot of walks in the mountain since all this corona virus stuff has kept us from going to work or just going out to socialize. But we love the mountain paths and all the nature that is so close to home.

Running Through a Tunnel
This is a protective tunnel that runs along the path near a girl's school in Kobe. It is there to help escape the wild boar that roam the woods in the mountains.
Nunobiki Gate
I don't know the name of this shrine or the name of this gate to that shrine but this is on the path to Nunobiki Water Falls behind Shin-Kobe Station.

Suwayama Tree
We often walk along the Futatabi trail, especially with so much free time now. This is a special time with a tree behind Suwayama Shrine on a beautiful spring day.
Small Japanese Pagoda
This is one of our favourite places to come an relax our minds and our spirit. It is a short walking distance from where we live and it is great to know that we can head here at almost anytime to rejuvenate the soul.
