Bandung

Our first night in Indonesia was in this old hotel in Bandung. Simple luxuries such as a small common room on every floor gave this hotel its special charm. This is a picture of Yuko looking out at the activity below in the park in front of the hotel.

Chiang Mai

We both loved Chiang Mai and enjoyed the small town pace of life. It is steeped in history with many temples to see and many ruins. And we loved the food. Everyday it was fresh coconuts for us. This is one of the one of the quieter moments of our sightseeing.

The Water Palace Again

We were only at the Water Palace for not even an hour but there were a lot of nooks and crannies to discover. There were lots of people at this sight, probably because of the time of year and everybody had a holiday and it was fairly easy to get to.

Thai beach

We dream of returning to Thailand and walking along the beach sand beaches. This beach is in Hua Hin. Not much to do here except walk on the beach and eat seafood. Not a bad way to spend the winter.

Busan BBQ

One of our favourite restaurants in Busan is a barbeque restaurant with a slightly overbearing older waitress. She means wells but you have to defend yourself from her "how to eat Korean BBQ lessons"... she will grab some meat off your grill and wrap it lettuce, and, before you know it, she is shoving it down your throat.... Korean style? This is just outside the restaurant... and we go there every night when we are in Busan.

Beer Goggles in Omi-Hachiman

We took advantage of being the only customers in this shop on a lovely early summer day. We entered for a relaxing cup of coffee and ended up with a couple of more relaxing mugs of beer.

Return to Malacca

The morning light in Malacca is a strong, but kind, sort of sunshine. It was a pleasure to wonder the streets in the early morning discovering looking in all the nooks and crannies.  This area around the famous old church in the downtown district has wonderful morning shadows.

Learning to go Fast

We often went cycling together around the port area of Kobe and sometimes to Port Island, a man-made island in the harbour. This is at Merican Park looking out to the cranes of the Kawasaki factory.
